Midnight Bats

Midnight Bats was a sound installation and 3d sculpture piece for the exhibition Staff Room 2. The viewer/listener climbed inside the sound pod and placed headphones over their ears. Closing your eyes you can hear the atmospheric mantra echoing around the temple coupled with the sound of bats flying and squeaking overhead. The sound piece was recorded in a Jain temple in Hampi, India and I wanted to create a calm yet closed environment in which to listen to the piece, particularly as this was in a white box gallery setting.
